Police investigate armed robbery at Sapphire Beach

POLICE are investigating an armed robbery at a service station in Sapphire Beach this afternoon.

A 21-year-old man was working at Liberty Fuel on Solitary Islands Way, when two men entered the store at about 5.30pm.

The pair, allegedly armed with knives and with their faces covered, threatened the man, before fleeing with an amount of cash.

The attendant was not injured during the incident.

Police from Coffs Clarence Local Area Command arrived a short time later and conducted an extensive a patrol of the area, however the men could not be found.

Both men are described as wearing dark clothing, with their faces covered, and with a thin build.

One is described as approximately 180 to 185cm tall, the other is described as 170 to 175cm tall.

Investigations into the incident are continuing and police would like to speak with two men who may be able to assist with inquiries.
