Police investigate approach on young school girl

COFFS Harbour police are appealing for public assistance after a young girl was approached by a man at Toormina.

The 10-year-old was walking  in a car park inside a school on Lyons Road on Wednesday shortly before 8.30am.

At this time a man stopped his car near the girl and told her to get into the vehicle, police said. 

She ran away and reported the incident to a teacher.

Police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command have commenced an investigation.

The man has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, 170cm to 175cm tall, medium build and 30 to 35 years of age.

He was wearing a black beanie, orange t-shirt, dark coloured tracksuit pants and white shoes.

He was driving a dark coloured four-door sedan.
