Police forced to abandon chase for stolen vehicle

POLICE have charged two men following an incident in Bracken Ridge last night where an alleged stolen vehicle evaded police.

It will be alleged around 11pm police observed the vehicle being driven along Telegraph Road in a dangerous manner.

Police will allege they attempted to intercept the vehicle but it failed to stop and continued to be driven in a dangerous manner.

Police abandoned the pursuit but continued to observe the vehicle.

The vehicle has then allegedly stopped on Lemke Road and the two occupants of the car have then fled on foot. A cordon was established and with the assistance of Polair and the Dog Squad two men were located and arrested a short time later.

During a search of the vehicle it will be alleged a quantity of drugs and other alleged stolen property was located.

A 23-year-old Yeppoon man was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fail to stop a motor vehicle, driving without a licence, possessing dangerous drugs and two counts of unlawful possession of suspected stolen property.

A 24-year-old Warner man was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs and unlawful possession of suspected stolen property.

Both are due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on today.
