Police dog tracks down dangerous driver after crash

A MAN allegedly fleeing from a crashed stolen car at Glenvale last night was apprehended, after being tracked by a police dog in Toowoomba.

About 10.30pm the vehicle crashed on Greenwattle St where the man fled the scene on foot.

The man was tracked to a yard in Barambah Ct where he was apprehended by a police dog and handler.

The 23-year-old Glenvale man has been charged with stealing, receiving tainted property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, four counts of fail to stop motor vehicle, 10 counts of disqualified driving, 10 counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle with prior conviction, drive under the influence of liquor, possess dangerous drug, unlawful possession of controlled drug, two counts of possess utensil, possess tainted property, trespass and obstruct police.

The dangerous driving charges related to numerous incidents in the Toowoomba area where the vehicle has evaded police.

Police are seeking community assistance for witnesses who may have observed the manner of driving of a vehicle in Toowoomba in recent days.

The vehicle is a 2010 black Holden Commodore utility with distinctive black mag wheels with red brake calipers.

Anyone with information in relation to the vehicle can contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000, Policelink 131444.

The man is scheduled to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court at 2pm today.
