Police apprehend wanted man after late night foot pursuit

POLICE from Coffs Clarence Local Area Command re-arrested a wanted man in South Grafton late on Friday following a vehicle stop and foot pursuit.

Officers had been searching for the 30-year-old man after he allegedly escaped custody when first being arrested about 12.30am on Thursday.

Warrants had previously been issued for the man for stealing offences.

Following inquiries, police stopped a car on Rushforth Road at South Grafton just after 9.30pm Friday.

The wanted man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, allegedly ran from the scene.

However, he was then apprehended following a short foot pursuit.

The local man who at this stage has not been named, was taken to Grafton Police Station where he will be charged over the outstanding warrants.
