Police apprehend wanted man after late night foot pursuit

POLICE from Coffs Clarence Local Area Command re-arrested a wanted man in South Grafton late on Friday following a vehicle stop and foot pursuit.

Officers had been searching for the 30-year-old man after he allegedly escaped custody when first being arrested about 12.30am on Thursday.

Following inquiries, police stopped a car on Rushforth Road at South Grafton just after 9.30pm Friday.

The wanted man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, allegedly ran from the scene.

However, he was then apprehended following a short foot pursuit.

The local man who at this stage has not been named, was taken to Grafton Police Station where he will be charged over the outstanding warrants.

Police would like to thank the public and media for their assistance.
