Police alarm at road toll as man dies at Coutts Crossing

A MAN has died following a single-vehicle crash south of Grafton overnight.

It was about 8.30pm on Friday when emergency services were called to Kangaroo Creek Road, Coutts Crossing, 20km south of Grafton.

A man was reported trapped after his vehicle had left the road and hit a tree.

Police from Coffs-Clarence Local Area Command, NSW Ambulance Paramedics, and local SES volunteers arrived to find the driver had already died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
.

This latest fatality comes while NSW Highway Patrol is conducting Operation Saturation and senior officers will speak to the media later today about the spate of deaths in the past seven days.
