PM's leadership forum inspirational for Josh

A COFFS Harbour student has met the Prime Minister during an eye-opening and inspirational trip to Canberra.

Joshua Hills, an Honours year student at Southern Cross University, was one of 300 students selected across Australia to take part in the four-day National Leadership Forum.

The forum is hosted by senators and members of Federal parliament and is designed to foster leadership characteristics in young people.

Josh said the forum was inspirational.

“We met with ministers, business leaders and Indigenous leaders who discussed what it means to be a leader,” Josh said.

“It was good to hear the different stories.”

During the four days, Josh met with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and new leader of the Opposition, Malcolm Turnbull, and he also spent time with Member for Dawson, James Bidgood.

“It was quite an eye opener,” he said.

“It made me realise they are a lot more human than people think and we shouldn't be so sceptical.”

He plans to submit his Honours research in Bachelor of Business in Hotel and Resort Management in the next few weeks before undertaking a PhD in the area of strategic management.
