Plenty in store at retail awards

IT was a night of fun frivolity and accolades at the Coffs Racing Club on Friday night for the 2008 Homebase Park Beach Plaza Retailer of the Year Awards.

Retailers in Park Beach Plaza and Homebase were awarded for their excellence in operations in a night that Park Beach Plaza marketing manager Darren Leaney says was a huge success.

"It was a great night, we had record attendance of 400 people, and there was plenty of fun and frivolity," he said.

Fellas Clothing took out top gong as Park Beach Plaza Retailer of the Year, while Clark Rubber took out the title in Homebase.

Customer service awards went to La Piazza Cafe at Homebase and Newcastle Permanent at Park Beach Plaza, while Kevin and Carol Budge of Park Beach Music and Robert Pringles from Micko were awarded 25 year outstanding service awards.

"We were very happy with all of the winners, especially Fellas Clothing. To have been in the market for 20 years and to keep reinventing themselves to stay competitive in such a demanding trade is an enormous achievement," Mr Leaney said.

Mr Leaney said the awards were based on numerous aspects of store operations, including customer service, sales achievements and merchandising.
