Laughs in Outback Debutante Ball
WHAT better way to showcase Narranga Public School’s hall then to put on a colourful performance, complete with line dancers and jackaroos.
In a spectacular collaboration, the school is having its first show in the hall – The Outback Debutante Ball – and the community is invited to witness what is certain to be an entertaining event.
The school’s P&C has teamed up with CHATS productions to organise the fundraiser with all proceeds going towards the purchase of six interactive whiteboards.
The Outback Debutante Ball is a comedy, highlighting what can happen when an outback community hall committee, in an attempt to get funding to save their hall, tries to impress a member of parliament during his visit for the debutante ball.
The performance involves students, teachers and music by The Basic Principals, featuring the school’s principal Graham Doust and assistant principal Rod Johnson.
Mr Doust said it had been great to get teachers and students involved in CHATS.
“Everyone has been having heaps of fun. The shows are a good use of the new hall and will be the first outside performance held there,” he said.
Teacher and CHATS performer Nerida Lee said people should prepare for a hilarious show.
“It has been hard work but it’s made easier by working with lovely people, building friendships and having lots of laughs,” she said.
It will be a complete experience, including a two course dinner provided by P&C volunteers (BYO drinks).
The first performance is this Friday, April 1, from 6pm, for a 6.30pm dinner and 7.30pm show. Shows will also run on April 2, 8 and 9.
Matinee shows will be on April 2, 3, 9 and 10 (arrive at 12.30pm for a 1pm lunch).
Tickets can be purchased at the Jetty Memorial Theatre between 10am and 4pm on 6652 8088. Ticket costs are as follows: adults $40, concessions $35, children $30, group bookings $33 each.
