Plea from Red Ribbon

VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help make a difference in the lives of people affected by HIV/AIDS.

The AIDS Council of NSW (ACON) is currently recruiting people to help out with the annual Red Ribbon Appeal.

ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill says the event is the organisation’s most important fundraising activity for the year.

“The money we raise through the Red Ribbon Appeal is vital to the work of ACON as it helps us prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS through education campaigns as well as provide the services and facilities essential to the health and well-being of people living with HIV/AIDS across NSW,” Mr Parkhills aid.

“If you want to help sell ribbons on the street, all you have to do is donate a few hours of your time on Tuesday or on Wednesday, which is World AIDS Day.”

Locally AIDS Awareness week will be marked with an information stall at tomorrow’s Harbourside Markets.

On World AIDS Day on Wednesday an information stall featuring resources and posters will be held in the Coffs Harbour City Centre.

To volunteer to sell ribbons or in your workplace go to www.redribbonday.org.au or contact the ACON office in Coffs harbour on 6651 6017.
