Local playground wins award

IT is an undisputed hit with thousands of local children and parents, and now the children’s playground at Brelsford Park has shone on the national stage. The playground has been highly commended in the Public Playspaces – District Parks category of the Kidsafe 2010 National Playspace Design Awards.

The commendation was jointly awarded to Geolink Landscape Architects, Fiona Robbé Landscape Architects, and Coffs Harbour City Council.

The playground which was completed late last year and built with more than $1 million in Commonwealth funding was selected from more than 50 nominations from around Australia for its design excellence and innovation.

The awards showcase current playspace design and aim to promote inspirational, innovative and safe play facilities which are seen as a must for today’s ‘screen-focused’ children to get them active and interacting outside.
