Planter boxes on show

COFFS Central invited local schools to design their own planter garden for a chance to win $500 towards their own school garden project.

The Coffs Schools 'Green Thumb' Competition is an opportunity for primary school students to learn and apply gardening skills in a fun, competitive environment.

The competition required students to design and plan a planter box garden based on sustainable living, before putting their creativity on display at Coffs Central.

The designs included plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables and herbs, plus decoration of the box.

Six finalist boxes are on display along Harbour Dr outside Coffs Central as part of its launch of spring.

The public vote winner will be announced on September 30 at the Spring Family Fun Day free event.
