Planning White Paper in spotlight

SWEEPING changes proposed to New South Wales planning laws contained in a NSW Government white paper will be addressed at a workshop in Bellingen sponsored by the Bellingen Environment Centre (BEC).

Corrine Fisher from the Better Planning Network and Ian Carmody from the Environmental Defenders Office will be on hand to answer questions from residents about the proposed changes.

A BEC spokseperson said the changes will limit community engagement to the early strategic planning phase and could remove the rights of residents and communities to comment and appeal on specific developments.

Public input can be sent to the NSW Government until June 28.

The information session will be at the Uniting Church on Tuesday, June 4 from 10am. Call 0409 996 423 for more information.
