PJ Marsh pays tribute to Sunshine Coast's James Ackerman

GRACEMERE-based NRL great PJ Marsh has today paid tribute to Sunshine Coast rugby league player James Ackerman, who died at in Royal Brisbane Hospital at the weekend.

Ackerman, a 25-year-old father of two young children, was playing as a forward for the Sunshine Coast Falcons on Saturday when he was injured in a tackle just five minutes into the game against the Norths Devils at Nundah, in Brisbane's north.

Marsh, who retired from the NRL in 2010 after stints with the Parramatta Eels and the Brisbane Broncos, said reading all the media reports on Ackerman's story gave him shivers.

"It's one of those things that are hard to fathom… especially for James' family, who I must express my sympathy to for their loss," he said.

"This is also a tragic loss for the wider rugby league community."
