Kevin Pietersen warms up for Big Bash League debut

BRISBANE Heat star all-rounder Andrew Flintoff might think he has more chance than Kevin Pietersen of making it back into the England side for next year's Ashes series.

But Pietersen showed he was still more than handy with the willow in Melbourne grade cricket on the weekend, making 41 from 31 balls for Richmond against St Kilda - having the hit-out to ensure he had a good feel for Australian pitches ahead of the Big Bash League which starts on Thursday.

"I haven't played since August - but I felt fantastic. I felt brilliant," the Melbourne Stars recruit said.

Flintoff, in Brisbane to play for the Heat, admitted Pietersen (pictured) was the type of player you wanted in your team, but said he believed England had moved on under new coach Peter Moores.

BBL series four starts with Adelaide hosting the Melbourne Stars on Thursday night.
