Picnic Race day a sure bet

PUNTERS, fashionistas and those in need of a great day out will be flocking to Allman Park today for the annual Picnic Races.

Organisers were hard at work yesterday getting the marquees up to scratch, lights and heaters ready for the members picnic area.

President Helen Lewis was optimistic of a sunny day with great racing and fun to be had by all.
She said 300 people had already bought tickets.

“And we’re looking forward to even more piling through the public gate.

“We have a full field of racing, eight bookies and TV screens up and running for enthusiasts to watch other meetings around Australia.”

Five races will be held on the vibrant green Allman Park track with several local trainers fielding horses.

Charles Kirkegaard, Terry Catip, Walter Payne, Garry Schwenke and Ted Weir are the Warwick trainers taking part.

The sharp dressers will be pleased to hear there will be a Fashions on the Field, which will be judged at 3.45pm.

After the racing finishes up, the heaters will come out and those in attendance will have the chance to dance the night away to some live music from No Penno.
