Phillips in change of base to Rex Lipp stable

EMERGING country apprentice Hannah Pillips will look to take her winning season form to the next level with a career move to Toowoomba.

Phillips is now based at Clifford Park after having her indentures transferred from her father Barry Phillips at Nanango to the Rex Lipp stable.

Phillips has ridden 14 winners this season on tracks from Texas to Gladstone.

She rode runner-up Real Ego for Lipp at Bunya Park two weeks ago.

Phillips’ move to the stable breaks Lipp’s long sequence of operating without an apprentice.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve taken on an apprentice, but I’m happy to give Hannah a go with us,” Lipp said.

“She’s been riding her share of winners around country tracks and she wants to try and move to the next level.

“She only gets to ride a few work at Nanango and is looking for some better opportunities.

“Hannah will sort of freelance for me.

“She’ll ride two or three for me of a morning and will then be free to ride for other trainers.

“She’ll probably keep riding at country tracks for a while longer while we look at some videos and that of her to help make sure she’s ready to make a good go of her next step up.”
