Pampered pets, but men miss out

THE Coffs Coast is apparently a pet lover’s paradise where more local businesses groom cats and dogs . . . than men.

The bizarre finding is highlighted in the latest Yellow Pages business phone directory.

It’s been found there are 41 per cent more listed businesses pampering pets on the Coffs Coast than there are businesses looking after male grooming.

That’s a total of 33 dog- and cat-grooming businesses compared to just a handful of men’s barber shops.

“Coffs Harbour men have had to step aside when it comes to their grooming and fashion needs to make way for pampered pooches and fashionable felines,” Yellow Pages marketing manager Stacey Maher said. “Incredibly, it’s easier to find a dog or cat groomer than it is a barber shop, with only 10 listed in a 300-kilometre radius of Coffs Harbour.”

Women also win out in the pampering department with 72 per cent more ladies’ wear retailers in and around Coffs Harbour as men’s.

Clearly, local ladies also don’t have the same concern when it comes to pampering and indulgence.

The Coffs Coast is home to 113 beauty salons, 57 florists, 47 jewellers, 40 wedding planners, 30 yoga instructors, 15 day spas, 10 cosmetics retailers and four dressmakers, just to name a few.
