Peregian's Bowditch in the hunt at PGA Championships

PEREGIAN Beach's Steven Bowditch is right in the hunt at the Australian PGA Championship midway through the second day of the Australian PGA Championships at Yaroomba.

Bowditch fashioned a stirring round of five-under par 67 to move into a share of fourth place.

The 29-year-old, who recently reclaimed a full-time berth on the US PGA Tour through the notorious Q-School, started the day at two-under.

But he moved to seven-under with a round which included an eagle on the par-five fifth, five birdies and a double bogey.

The local hope was just three strokes adrift of leader Daniel Popovic, who carded a round of two-under par 70 to follow his remarkable first-round of eight-under par 64.

The unheralded 26-year-old Victorian held a two-stroke lead over former US Open and Australian PGA Championship winner Geoff Ogilvy and Matthew Griffin.
