Pearce impresses in Cockatoos' win

COFFS rugby speedster Karrnunny Pearce has taken his outstanding early-season form with him as he travels around the country with the New South Wales Country Cockatoos.

Playing in the centres at the weekend against a Victorian Rugby Union development squad, Pearce crossed the line twice as the Cockatoos ran away with a 62-12 victory in Melbourne.

After a slow start the Cockatoos were leading only 7-5 when the diminutive Pearce burst through a gap with speed to settle the nerves of the Colts squad with a try that extended the margin.

While impressing with his defence along with a hard-working forward pack, Pearce became the only player on the team to score a double when he crossed again late in the second half as the match turned into a procession.

The local product and his teammates are setting themselves for a big clash against ACT on May 1.
