PB mega-garage sale huge success

THE Park Beach Community Group has found ready support for its push to clean up its backyard.

The fledgling organisation raised as much as $2200 from Saturday’s mega-garage sale and the proceeds will help fund the vital work of the group.

Group president Jenny Grant said up to 1000 people attended the big sale at the showground.

“It was a great day. We sold four-fifths of the goods we had and the rest went to recycling and the Salvation Army,” Ms Grant said.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the response and not just financially – people frequently made comments that they love what we’re doing at Park Beach and they want to support us.

“They were also happy with the bargains.”

The funds raised on the day will help the group with overheads such as insurance, meeting costs, phone costs for the volunteers and the fortnightly newsletter.

The Park Beach Community Group has been incorporated for about five weeks and is heavily focused on crime prevention and community building and promoting the Park Beach lifestyle.
