Picturesque walking path honours 'community-minded' Wayne

A PATHWAY connecting the South Wall with Gallows Beach - the joint project of two Coffs Harbour Rotary clubs - will be dedicated to the late Wayne Glenn.

Wayne Glenn, a respected local businessman and past president of the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour, lost his battle with cancer late last year.

The Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour and the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour Daybreak put the funds forward for the pathway with the aim of creating ease of access for the community.

Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour's Ray Smith said Wayne was involved in the project from the initial stages.

"He was a community-minded and spirited person; I don't know how he fitted work in around his volunteer projects," Ray said.

The 240-metre pathway, to be called the Wayne Glenn Rotary Walk, has not been officially opened yet, with announcements about other elements to be included along the walkway still to come.

Meanwhile, the Rotary clubs are running fundraisers to help recoup costs.

Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour Daybreak's Graeme Spink invited the community to support fundraising efforts at the Sawtell Cup day, held at the Coffs Harbour Racing Club, on Sunday.

To raise funds, there will be raffles, a sausage sizzle and food and beverage packages are available for pre-purchase.

"We hope that locals will attend and support this worthy cause," Graeme said.

Call the racing club for more details on the packages 6652 1488.
