Policewoman 'punched, scratched' during arrest

UPDATE: A policewoman was allegedly scratched and punched by a 20-year-old woman after attending a home in Warwick in response to a noise complaint.

Police attended the Hope St residence following a noise complaint when the woman became aggressive and fought with officers during her arrest.

A female officer was allegedly pinched, scratched and punched by the woman, resulting in bruising and swelling to the arms and torso.

The young woman has been charged with public nuisance, two counts of obstructing police officers, and one count of assault to a police officer causing bodily harm.

She will face the Warwick Magistrates Court in June.

EARLIER: A young woman has been charged with allegedly attacking police when they were called to a noise complaint.

At 9.05am Thursday police responded to the complaint at an address in Hope St.

Upon arrival, a 20-year-old woman allegedly became aggressive and started fighting with police officers who attended the scene.

The woman was arrested and transferred to the watchhouse but was later released on bail.

She is due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court in June charged with public nuisance, two counts of obstructing a police officer, and one count of serious assault of a police officer causing bodily harm.
