Stab victim in a serious condition
THE 40-year-old male victim of yesterday’s stabbing at Park Beach is recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery for internal injuries to his abdomen.
He remained in a serious but stable condition last night, a North Coast Area Health Service spokesman said.
Police say officers were called to a Boultwood Street unit just after midnight (Tuesday) and arrested a male suspect over the crime. The man was taken into custody and was late yesterday still being questioned over the incident.
Investigators, meanwhile, have recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attack.
Detectives are waiting on the assistance of an interpreter to help with their questioning, as they decide what charges will be laid.
Yesterday as the victim of that attack recovered in the Coffs Harbour surgical ward, nurses also tended to the 24-year-old stabbed in the back with a pair of scissors at Toormina on Tuesday morning.
That incident was also domestic related and a man, believed to be aged in his 20s, has been granted conditional bail on a charge of wound with intent and will reappear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on March 29.
Police will allege he stabbed the victim with a pair of scissors at a house in Nariah Crescent at 9.10am.
Emergency services arrived to find the victim lying in the driveway, suffering deep puncture wounds to his lower back.
The victim’s condition was last night listed as stable.
