Parade of pedigree pooches

IF lagotto romagnolo sounds to you like an exotic imported Italian product, you would be right – but the ‘product’ is an exotic Italian gun dog.

A young lagotto romagnolo dog exhibited by Coffs Harbour’s Bev McAean was among the unusual breeds of dog on show at the weekend’s three-day championship dog show held at the Coffs Harbour Racing Club.

Others at the show, which attracted about 250 dogs, was a Finnish spitz; a white Swiss shepherd and all four varieties of Belgian shepherds in a rare gathering of that breed.

Bonville Kennel Club Secretary and show organiser Jenine Glenn said the three Best in Show awards had gone to a miniature poodle from Grafton; a Siberian husky from Queensland and an Old English sheepdog from Armidale.
