Palmer has eye on Page electorate

MINING billionaire Clive Palmer has revealed his first candidate for the United Australia Party - but the recruit to contest the seat of Page is yet to be announced.

Former state MP Rob Messenger will stand for the seat of Hinkler in Queensland.

Mr Messenger was the member for Burnett between 2004 and 2012.

The Daily Examiner was last week told by Crook Media - the company dealing with the party's media - that it would definitely offer up a candidate for the seat of Page.

Mr Palmer claimed he had well over 500 members for his party, which was still to be registered with the Australia Electoral Commission.

But to the Coolum Resort owner, that was a minor detail.
