Paddle out tribute for well-known surfer

PUMPING surf provided the perfect send off for well-known Arrawarra man, Rod Hocker at the weekend.

About 70 surfers and paddleboarders took to the surf at Arrawarra Beach to honour the memory of the avid surfer on Saturday morning.

Hand-in-hand, Family members, friends and well-known surfers from the Coffs Coast and beyond formed a circle beyond the break to celebrate Rod's life.

Friend, Steve Bailey said the paddle out was a very fitting send off for his mate.

"As far as these things go, it was good. There were flowers and a lot of 'whooping' for Rod," Mr Bailey said

Since Rod's passing about three weeks ago, Rod's wife Sue Hocker said she is grateful community's on-going support for herself and her children.

"I think it was a marvellous tribute to Rod and it was lovely to see how honoured and appreciated he was," Mrs Hocker said.
