UPDATE 8AM: A TRUCK driver has been lucky to escape with only minor injuries following a crash on the Pacific Highway.

Police from Richmond Local Area Command received a report around 2am that a truck, which was carrying a load of fencing, had rolled over, Inspector Doug Connors said.

The 58-year-male driver received only cuts and bruises, Insp Connors said.

The truck was currently blocking both lanes, and there was significant debris on the road, he said, causing the highway to be closed for recovery.

Insp Connors said the highway may remain closed "for some time yet".

EARLIER: THE Pacific Highway is closed in both directions in Woodburn about 3km north of Woodburn due to an overturned truck.

Northbound traffic is being diverted at Grafton to the Summerland Way to Casino and the Bruxner Highway via Lismore to Ballina.

Motorists are advised to allow plenty of additional travel time as diversions will add up to 80 minutes of additional travel time.
