Pacific Highway cleared at Eungai Rail after two car pile-up

UPDATE 11.45am

A 25-year-old man has been admitted to hospital in Coffs Harbour in a serious condition.

The man was in the vehicle that rolled and he is believed to have suffered compound fractures to his arm, along with head injuries.

The occupants of the other vehicles, believed to be males aged 63 and 64 years, have also been taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus for observation.

Reports are their injuries are less serious.

PACIFIC Highway traffic at Eungai Rail was disrupted for two hours this morning as paramedics and emergency crews worked to free a trapped occupant after a two car collision.

An alert was issued around 7am when the highway was blocked in both directions following the traffic incident near Station Street.

Police later put diversions in place to allow cars to alternate around the scene.

However, lack of passing room saw heavy vehicles including B-doubles forced to remain stationary while the site was cleared.

The highway was reopened just after 10am.

No information is available on the condition of the trapped motorist.
