Finals of Oztag Champs to be streamed live

THE three-day Oztag Junior National Championships breaks new ground this weekend.

A total of 113 teams involving 1200 players will participate in the inaugural event and Epicentre TV will live stream all games on field one this Sunday, finals day.

Tournament co-ordinator Bill Harrigan said the junior championships start on Friday with the event booked into the city for three years.

"We've been coming to Coffs with the senior championships for 10 years now and a great relationship has been built between the city and Oztag," he said.

"For this latest venture, we're really spicing things up with new and exciting things like the live streaming .

"Also, we have lined up some great prizes for the mixed divisional relay race which will take place during the lunch break on Saturday."

Harrigan missed the International Buskers Festival a couple of weeks back but that event gave him another idea.

"I'd love to have local buskers come in to entertain and make some money on the side," he said.

"Just as you come through the front gate there's the green space in the centre and that would be a fantastic place for some amateur entertainers to set up make a few bob.

"Some of the young kids or adults who go down to the shopping malls would be really welcome to join in.

"We'll start by throwing an amount into the hat to start them off and then hopefully, participants and spectators will throw coins in like the shoppers.

"Each may play for an hour or so and it should give a good vibe to the event.

"I want to do the same at the seniors in November, so if anybody's interested, drop me a line."

Any potential buskers should email billh@oztag.com.au.
