Redeveloped City Square designs for all to see
NEW design concepts for a revamped City Square are about to go on display.
The CBD Masterplan Committee and Coffs Harbour City Council will put the plans on public exhibition on Monday until February 27.
The plans are the result of a competition open to architects and town planners.
CBD Masterplan Committee chair Rod McKelvey said 99 firms across Australia viewed the brief and 13 submissions were received.
"The primary project for the CBD Masterplan Committee in 2014 has been the City Square Design project," Rod said.
Several major Masterplan projects such as paving, lighting, signposting and landscaping, have been put on hold pending the outcome of the City Square Design process.
"The redevelopment of City Square was determined by the committee to be the key project influencing design themes and standards for the rest of the City Centre."
The concept plans cover a range of topics such as seating, lighting, car park facades, landscaping and shade structures, with the aim to create a friendly and welcoming space which is flexible, sophisticated and vibrant, but also relaxed and peaceful.
