A CROWD of 180 supported the Daily News/Warwick Credit Union Sports Star of the Year awards night at the Hawker Rd Function Centre on Monday night.

Australian Southern Stars cricketer Delissa Kimmince was guest speaker and recalled when she first received a call up to the national team.

"I was shopping in Woolies at Moorooka in Brisbane when the call came,” she said.

Kimmince was the senior sports star of the year in 2008 and a decade later was guest speaker this week when Mitch Eastwell (rodeo) and Jake Wyllie (boxing) jointly won the 2018 senior award.

Allora athlete Kira Holmes (pony club/cricket/athletics) was junior sports star of the year and Will Gilmore (rugby/athletics) was the Doc Bodimeade Memorial Encouragement Award winner.

Wattles rugby league president Glyn Rees won the Condamine Sports Club Volunteer of the Year award and powerlifter Tom Hardy won the local sports person of the year.
