Oscar-nominated flick listed at Coffs Coast Flix in the Stix
THERE'S now extra interest in the visit by CommBank Flix in the Stix to Coffs Harbour now that one of the short films has been nominated for the 87th Academy Awards.
It was announced this week The Phone Call, directed by Matt Kirkby, is up for an Oscar when winning envelopes are opened on February 22.
Flix in the Stix makes its second visit to the city and will be held in North Coast Regional Botanic Garden on Friday, February 6, curated and hosted by Deborah Mailman.
"I'm thrilled to be part of Flix in the Stix and to bring together some of my favourite short films, filled with artists I love and respect and stories that are a good yarn," the award-winning actor said.
"What better way to enjoy a night out under the stars than with a feast of film, food and great entertainment.

Deborah has now confirmed that apart from The Phone Call, UK BAFTA winner Room 8 will make its Australian debut.
Also on the program is German short film Flamingo Pride, already the winner of awards in Japan and at the Newport Beach Festival.
Finally, The Gunfighter, being mentioned as the ideal pilot for an extended movie or cable TV series.
More films are being kept under wraps for the night.
As well as short films, CommBank Flix in the Stix will showcase live music by ARIA award winning artists My Friend the Chocolate Cake and comedy from ARIA award winning threesome Tripod.
