New tower to improve coverage

A NEW mobile base station is being planned by Optus for the Coffs Harbour CBD.

Optus says it wants to improve mobile phone coverage in the Coffs Harbour area with the planned installation of antennas atop Federation House at 24 Moonee Street.

“Optus has assessed several potential sites in the area and determined that the Moonee Street site is the most appropriate location for the base station,” a spokesman said.

The installation will comprise:

  • four new panel antennas;
  • three new parabolic antennas; and
  • a new Optus equipment shelter.

“The proposed antenna installation is considered by Optus to be a low impact facility,” the spokesman said.
