Opportunistic thief grabs cash in McDonald's drive-thru

A THIEF seized the opportunity to get away with cash after a window and cash register were left open in the drive-thru of a Coffs Harbour McDonalds last night.

Police said the youth reached inside the window and grabbed cash from the till, which was left opened on Monday around 6.30pm.

McDonalds staff reported the incident to police.

Officers investigating the stealing offence are today hoping to use security footage to identify the offender.

Coffs Harbour police are also investigating the theft of a charity tin stolen from the counter of Red Rooster in Coffs Central.

The theft is believed to have happened on Sunday around 5pm.
