Opinion sought on flood proofing Waterfall Way section

A THREE-kilometre section of the Waterfall Way between the Pacific Hwy and Connells Creek is one step closer to being flood proofed.

Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner said community consultation is being sought over several route options to improve the three kilometre road section.

"I am encouraging the community and stakeholders to take a look and provide feedback, visit the community information session and nominate to participate in a value management workshop," Mr Stoner said.

"The online report outlines the planning, which has been carried out including details of the environmental and technical investigations for each route option.

"Identifying the preferred route is an important step and considering the community's feedback on the options developed is crucial to move onto the next stage of planning.

A preferred route option for the upgrade is expected to be selected by early 2014.

Mr Stoner said the RMS wants to know how each option impacts locals, be it good or bad - everything has to be considered.

The report can be viewed here or at Bellingen Shire Council, 33-39 Hyde St, Bellingen.

Feedback on the route options development report will close on Wednesday, May 22.
