NETBALLERS from Coffs Harbour managed to get up close and personal when the World Cup trophy and mascot Nettie visited the New South Wales championships.

Something magical must have rubbed off as the Coffs under-17 girls went on to claim the titles as best in the state.

The trophy visited the Coffs Coast earlier this year as part of a 25,000km tour of the globe.

Currently in New Zealand, the Netball World Cup returns to these shores just in time for the start of the tournament in Sydney on August 7.

It's the first time the sport's biggest event has been in Australia since 1991.
