Olyroos back on track thanks to Roar youngsters

Brisbane Roar stars James Donachie and Jamie Maclaren have kept alive the Olympic qualification hopes of the Australian U23 team.

The pair scored in the Olyroos' 2-0 win over Vietnam at the Asian U23 Championship in Doha.

The team needs to finish in the top three of the tournament to qualify for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, starting in August.

After a 1-0 loss in their opening match to the United Arab Emirates, it took just two minutes for the Socceroos to open the scoring.

Vietnam could not clear the ball from a corner, the ball landing at Donachie's feet to bury it home from just outside the six-yard box.

Maclaren then sealed the win with a tap-in after some good work by Andrew Hoole. Australia faces Jordan in a must-win final group game on Thursday morning, with the top two from the group qualifying for the quarter-finals.
