Pool reno a great job for budget
SWIMPLEX Aquatics director Geoff Leaver says the architect has done a good job on the exterior of the renovated War Memorial Olympic Pool.
He said some people were miffed that Coffs Coast Advocate columnist Greg White had passed judgment on the unfinished building.
“At the end of the day it is a pool hall, not an architectural monument or a Glasshouse, and the budget was tight,” Mr Leaver said.
“I think the architect has done a good job with the colours and vibrancy to indicate what is inside.
“The wall needs to be fairly high and needs a shaped roof to evacuate the humidity.
“The other two walls open out on fine days to create a good visual flow between the indoor and outdoor pools and allow supervision by lifeguards over the whole site.”
Coffs Harbour-based firm Swimplex Aquatics carried out the multi-million-dollar renovation and expansion of the city’s public swimming centre.
