THERE'S never been a shortage of stars as guests of honour at one of Bonville Golf Resort's Legends Lunches but this week's line-up is straight from the top drawer.

You could say the special guests at Thursday's event will blow them out of the water.

A stellar cast of Australian swimming legends joined by one American who total an amazing 16 Olympic medals between them including eight gold.

The theme of the lunch is 100m freestyle Olympic Medallists for Australia with four legends winning medals over an incredible 52 year span at the Olympic Games.

The 100m freestyle event at the Olympics is often referred to as the "blue riband" event in which legends are made.

John Devitt claimed a silver medal on home soil in Melbourne in 1956, then went one better four years later in Rome. Michael Wenden won gold in Mexico City 1968, Mark Stockwell claimed silver in Los Angeles in 1984 and Eamon Sullivan picked up silver in Beijing in 2008.

Joining the Aussie stars will be one of America's superstars of the Los Angeles games.

Tracey Caulkins, who met her future husband Mark Stockwell in one of the Olympic pools at the Games, was a medley specialist winning three gold medals on home soil.

Also appearing will be Sydney relay gold medallist Chris Fydler, who since retirement has been on the board of Swimming Australia and was last year appointed deputy Chef de Mission for the Australian Olympic Team competing in London in 2012.

Rugby legend John Eales will be joined by Channel 7 sports presenter Mark Beretta as hosts and MCs for the afternoon and both will pose some tough questions to this collection of swimming greats.

Tickets are still available from Bonville Golf Resort.
