Old Boys provide vital help to community
THE Ipswich Rugby League Old Boys' Association held their final function for 2017 with a Christmas luncheon at United Sports Club.
The recent luncheon was well attended by past players, officials, referees and volunteers who, over many years have "done their bit” for, and "paid their dues” to rugby league in Ipswich.
Rugby League Ipswich board member Denise Hanly was a guest.
As a board member of Ipswich Hospice Care, she accepted a donation of $500 from the Old Boys who have supported the institution for a number of years.
Along with a friend to accompany them, the widows/partners of past members of the Old Boys were special guests.
Ipswich Rugby League Old Boys president Jan Christison said they will always be remembered as will their loved ones.

Two of the members met up again after not seeing each other for 50 years.
Bob McNamar,a of Flinders View, and Ian McKinnon from the North Coast spent over three hours reminiscing about their rugby league days in Ipswich.
"It was a very enjoyable day,'' Christison said.
"We take great pride in being able to get these wonderful people together at our functions.''
The next Old boys function is the Jack Brown-Des Green Memorial Lawn Bowls day at Swifts on Sunday, February 25.
