Ocean swim not far away

THE Coffs Coast Ocean Swim being held at Coffs Harbour Jetty on Sunday, March 1 is looking like having a banner year.

The event is now a must do and see on the Coffs Coast sporting calendar and this year there are more reasons to try one or all of the 250m, 600m or 2000m swims being raced on the day.

While some take the long distance races quite seriously, including former world champion Hayley Lewis who is entered, most enter for the fun and exercise as well as contributing to the real reason the swim is held each year - charity.

Up to 1000 swimmers are expected to jump in the water next weekend and every single competitor has the chance to go into a draw for a variety of cash prizes and holiday packages on offer.

Those who haven't put in their entry form yet can do so by logging on to www.coffsoceanswims.com before next Friday or they can do so in person next weekend at the Coffs Harbour Yacht Club from 2.00-3.30pm on Saturday, February 28.

Registration on race day is also still possible, between 6.30am and 8.15am although late registrations incur a $10 additional fee.
