Oarsome national titles float into town

SUNDAY'S corporate challenge at Jetty Beach was a mere taster for fans of Outrigger Canoe racing.

Coffs Harbour will be bursting with visitors when it again hosts the National titles on Saturday and Sunday, December 13 and 14.

This year, the Coffs Coast Outrigger Canoe Club has increased the number of divisions and one major change will allow a new marquee event, the Coffs Coast 25km Downwind Relay Challenge.

Organisers believe the event will prove a major drawcard by opening up participation to a wider audience of competitors.

The club will charter a 120-seat vessel to allow a mid-ocean change halfway through the race between Woolgoolga and the Jetty.

Provision has been made for ski and paddleboard competitors with prizes awarded in a number of categories, other than National titles.
