Nude selfie of stranger sent to young mum's home

THE contents of a letter received by a young mother on Tuesday morning forced her to sleep with her doors locked for the first time in three years.

The Yeppoon woman, who lives on a two acre block with her husband and three-year-old daughter, said she felt unsettled in her own home after receiving a letter and a photograph from a middle-aged man she had never seen before.

"We hadn't checked the mail for a couple of days... we found an envelope addressed 'to resident'," she said today.

"It was a home printed photo of a guy in his 50s or 60s, naked, sitting at a table. It was a selfie.

"He had typed 'Dave' with a phone number and had left a hand written note on there."

The woman said the letter, which was immediately handed into police, read something like 'I am desperate, looking for a woman urgently, aged between 19 and 102'.

"There was a stamp, a post office stamp, so at least we know they didn't physically put it in our mailbox," she said.

The incident follows a sexually charged note left on young woman's windscreen while she and a friend were walking Kemp Hill on Sunday morning.

In it, the note's author described what the women were wearing and threatened to "follow" them.

Constable Angela Dowling at the Yeppoon Police Station, who received the complaint from the Yeppoon mother, said while the two incidents did not appear linked it was important for others to come forward.

"If people report it to us, obviously, if there is more than one incident we can find a pattern," she said.

"It is definitely quite threatening, especially that incident at Kemp.

"This other incident could just be a prank, but I definitely encourage people to report. If it is a prank it is definitely not funny.

"A lot of people don't realise they're not the only person, but once they report it, we get more and more and then you realise it wasn't an isolated incident. It is very unnerving."
