NSW chamber is driving hard
WITH the March state election looming, the NSW Business Chamber has put the NSW Deserves Better bus on the road and it’s headed our way.
Chamber CEO Stephen Cartwright said local business people and consumers were encouraged to visit the bus on its journey and send their message to both the Government and the Opposition as to exactly how NSW can do better.
“Over the last four years NSW has dropped the ball in key areas like transport, infrastructure and planning for the future,” Mr Cartwright said.
“We deserve better than a soap opera and the glib one-liners that masquerade as public policy.”
The bus will visit Coffs Harbour tomorrow morning, meeting people at the Novotel Pacific Bay Resort from 9am.
“On the Mid North Coast, businesspeople have put together their ‘Ten Big Ideas to Grow the Mid North Coast’ and we want to talk to them about what is needed to grow this important regional centre.”
He said the ideas included making the area the first “higher education region”, six-monthly reporting on the Pacific Highway upgrade and the creation of a Mid North Coast brand for goods and services.
The proposals can be downloaded at www.10bigideas.com.au.
Mr Cartwright said while the NSW Business Chamber was an apolitical organisation, the campaign was a direct result of the continued “degeneration” in the State Government’s performance.
“Our members cover the entire political spectrum and almost as one, they are saying ‘enough is enough’ and that NSW deserves better.
“As the state’s largest and most representative business organisation, we could not simply sit idly and pretend that it is business as usual in NSW.”
The bus will also visit Kempsey, Frederickton, Port Macquarie and Taree. For more information phone Chris Taylor on 0419 692 236.
