NSW bowlers have WA bats in their sights
AN intriguing battle between New South Wales' in-form bowling attack and Western Australia's gun batting line-up could decide the result of the top-of-the-table Sheffield Shield clash, starting in Newcastle today.
Left-arm orthodox spinner Steve O'Keefe (pictured) is sixth on this season's leading wicket-taker list with 20, while left-arm quick Doug Bollinger is not far behind him with 16 for the first-placed Blues.
Spinner Nathan Lyon (13 wickets) has also been firing for NSW since his successful Test series against India.
The Warriors boast the competition's first and third leading run-scorers in Adam Voges (890) and Michael Klinger (704).
In the other match in Alice Springs starting today, a resurgent Queensland (fourth) takes on Victoria (third). Queensland has recorded comprehensive innings' victories in its past two games under new interim coach Justin Sternes.
