Not best week of Isaac’s young life

THE Sunshine Coast's The Voice hopeful Isaac McGovern says he is excited for the public to vote on his talent this week.

Mr McGovern, 19, missed out on being saved by his mentor Joel Madden after singing Best Day of My Life.

Madden instead went with Frank Lakoudis leaving Taila Gouge, Holly Tapp and Isaac to face the public vote.

However Isaac said he felt Madden made the right call.

"In my opinion Frank deserved to go through," Isaac said. "His whole show was amazing.

"I struggled with that song a lot. I felt the whole time from the get-go it wasn't me.

"I always try to connect with the songs that I sing."

Earlier in the week Isaac learnt of the death of his aunt.

His commitments to The Voice in Sydney meant he was unable to attend her funeral with his Cooroy family.

"It's pretty tough. She passed away the night before I flew here, so it was hard to have to get up and leave," he said.

He hoped the song, which was his aunt's favourite, would serve as his way of saying goodbye. He said Madden's support and guidance had helped to get him through the tough week.

"Joel has been incredible. I didn't want to bring it up with anyone because I didn't want people to treat me differently but someone had told him and he took me aside and really opened up with me," Isaac said.

While he was nervous about the vote, he was excited to hear the result.

"I just do what I do and if people love it that's awesome," he said.

"The girls I'm up against are incredible and I know they have big fan bases."

And while it was a competition, Isaac said he would be upset at the verdict, because one of his friends could be leaving the show.
