Northern NSW impresses at Nationals
NORTHERN NSW has continued to impress on Day 4 of the National Youth Championships at BCU International Stadium.
The Northern NSW Under-15's held Queensland to a 1-1 draw and the Under-14's recorded a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Capital Football.
Northern NSW Under 15s came from behind yesterday to salvage one point in their match against Queensland.
Queensland was ahead by one goal leading into halftime, but an equaliser in the final ten minutes of play from Northern's Elizabeth Copus-Brown forced the two sides to share the points.
Copus-Brown capitalised after a free kick was knocked away by Queensland's keeper.
The 15s meet NSW Metropolitan tomorrow in a match which will decide the National Champions.
With Northern currently on seven points and NSW Metro on nine, Northern will need a victory to claim the trophy.
In the under-14s Sophie Nenadovic opened the scoring on seven minutes to put Northern on the front foot from the start of the match.
Ashlee Brodigan and Tayla Grant each scored themselves a brace, with Amanda Armstrong also scoring for the Northern side.
Tomorrow the Under 14s meet NSW Country in their intergroup fixture.
