North Coast Academy of Sport race into Novotel Pacific Bay

COFFS Harbour city councillor Rodney Degens launched this weekend’s North Coast Academy of Sport regional athlete and coach education (RACE) conference at Novotel Pacific Bay Resort.

NCAS executive director John Kincade said the two day gathering aims to bring a higher state of professionalism to regional sport.

“The education program is exciting,” he said.

“Modules being delivered across a variety of topics include sports physiology, nutrition, psychology and core strength and stability.

“In addition athletes and coaches attend modules on social media skills and drugs awareness in sport.

RACE is a once-a-year event and has been designed so that NCAS can meet its obligation of providing an ancillary education program to its athletes.

“The weekend will involve a two-day program of quality and up-to-date information, relevant to our regional athlete and coach needs.

“Sessions are presented by professionals within their relevant field of expertise through a variety of suitable learning formats.

“Coaches will improve their skills and knowledge and this in turn will benefit North Coast athletes.”
