No to electricity sell off: Nationals

NSW Nationals' leader Andrew Stoner says his party will oppose proposed electricity sell-off when the move is voted on later this week.

Mr Stoner was on the Coffs Coast yesterday, and took time out to discuss the sale, after NSW Premier Morris Iemma recalled state parliament last week.

“The Nationals are opposed to the Labor Party plan,” Mr Stoner said. “It's all about jobs, prices and whether regional NSW has been looked after.

“It is clear they haven't and, after reviewing the Regional Community Impact statement and the Auditor General's report, we face no option but to oppose any sell-off.”

Mr Stoner said his party would always put regional NSW first and added the negative impact such a move could have on 'country folk' would always outweigh any other options.
